In the latest press release, it is announced that the MBC Korean Culture Festival was officially sold out in 3 hours! Although many ticket buyers (unfortunate ones) experienced the dreaded “ticket not available” message within seconds of it hitting 9am on Monday.
We’ve already written about the Festival here, here and here, as well as a special article here. And there is much reason for our enthusiasm as it looks set to be one of the biggest London Korean events of the year, combining Kpop and Korean culture all in celebration of the 2012 London Olympics! Read on for Line up!
This amazing event is presented by Korea’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade and Ministry of Culture, Sports & Tourism alongside MBC, Korea’s oldest and leading broadcasting corporation. And they are bringing us 4MINUTE, EXO-K and Nazaro (profiles here). As well as leading culture icons Queen and critically-acclaimed Hanbok designer Park Sul-Nvero who has dressed our very own Pixie Lott! All this will be happening on the 23rd June at London’s indigO2, and it will be a night of cutting edge contemporary music, traditional costume and an exhilirating blend of traditional music and classical composition. Exciting!
MBC, the major Korean broadcasting corporation hosts “MBC Korean Cultural Festival in London 2012” in celebration of the 2012 London Olympics. This one-off cultural performance is sponsored by Korean Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade / Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism. It will highlight the elegance and dynamics of Korean culture, combining Korean traditional culture and K-POP and gives audiences the opportunity to see an eclectic collaboration of colourful traditional Korean royal costumes fashion show, modernized traditional music stage with the contemporary K-POP performance.Unfortunately the press release states that this is a “one-off” so our hearts go out to all those who couldn’t get a ticket. But don’t cry and throw MBLAQesque tantrums. Let’s show MBC and the world how much we love the Republic of Korea and show them how hospitable we are! Then maybe they will come back, and bring Mblaq possibly, and DBSK, and Shinee again, and Nu’est… the list goes on. I’ve also been told to mention EXO-M, so they can “enjoy the mayo” of the UK, we have Hellmanns!
