The application for the 2015 course has changed slightly and there are now two different types of admissions so make sure you fill in your application forms correctly and send in the relevant documents with your submissions.
REGULAR ADMISSION – Send your application form and curriculum vitae. Once the application window has closed, computer software will select the applicants at random, the names of which will be posted on the KCCUK website and contacted by email with times and details of the course. Then, the computer software will again draft a waiting list at random from the remaining applicants. Should any applicants cancel, their place will be offered to the first person on the waiting list and so on.
SPECIAL ADMISSION (for cultural candidates) – The special admission is for those who are considered to be contributors or to be engaged in the cultural exchange between Korea and the United Kingdom.
Send your application form and curriculum vitae with a letter of recommendation and proof of employment. Successful students will be contacted by e-mail and their names posted on the KCCUK website. Those names from the special admissions who have not been successful at this stage will be added to the list of regular admissions and go through the regular admission process.
LEVEL TEST – For those not applying for Beginner level, you will be required to take a brief level test (reading, writing and speaking). This is to ensure you are suitable for the level you have applied for. If you ‘re not sure what level you are at, check the KCCUK Sejong webpage for the course guide chart which highlights what is covered in which class/level etc.
PLEASE NOTE – This KCCUK course is a great way to learn the language with some amazing teachers and make lots of new friends. KCM met via the Sejong course (hence the rather embarrassing name from when we thought we were cool sat at the back of the classroom). This course is open to anyone aged 18 and over who have an interest in Korea.
But there is a new rule where those who dropped out are strictly forbidden from re-applying. So please consider your application wisely. This course is free and very popular so please only apply if you are prepared to put in the commitment to avoid wasting the slot. There is only one class a week and there will be quite a bit of homework and self-study time.
Also all those applying for the Saturday classes, you will need to join the Wednesday classes during Intermediate level and Wednesday classes, you will be required to join the Saturday class when you get to the advance level. So please be prepared as this is what affected our class the most with many being forced to drop out due to Saturday jobs etc.
