The sun is finally out and we can’t wait to kick start the summer with some tunes! And before some of you moan and groan, it’s not Kpop. This time the KCC has prepared something for all you cool Indie and Rock fans!
The Korean Cultural Centre will be hosting live performances from K-Indie rock bands Third Stone, Dead Buttons and Patients. This is a much welcomed return for Dead Buttons and Patients who came last year, you can read our interviews with Dead Buttons and Patients to learn more about the two bands and this year they’ve brought along Third Stone. Inspired by the legend Jimi Hendrix, Third Stone debuted in 2007 and have since gained recognition for being part of Korea’s new wave of psychedelic rock as well as experimenting with the sounds of the blues.
All three bands are coming to the UK to perform at the Liverpool Sound City, the unrivalled 3 day music festival which this year features The Vaccines, The Flaming Lips and Bella and Sebastian. Since the first Korea Rocks tour in 2013, Korean Rock and Indie bands have become regulars at the festival, introducing many new fans to Korean Rock and Indie. But before all that kicks off, all three bands will be rocking out in London for a very special showcase at the KCC.
With the constant attention on Kpop, don’t miss this chance to see a very different side to Korean music. As popular as the genre is here in the UK, Rock and Indie music is still quite underground in South Korea although it has been gaining more popularity with reality shows such as Top Band. With the return of punky Patients, rock’n’roll Dead Buttons and first time visitors Third Stone, it’ll be like a fun night at the infamous Hongdae playground. And Rock music is always best LIVE!
